Position Purpose: The Business Intelligence Director is responsible for directing and leading the standard reporting and business intelligence functions for the organization. They will directly support the Medical Economics team, Medical Management, Operations, Provider Network, Accounting, and other departments of the company. The Business Intelligence Director is responsible for managing the BI staff, streamlining reports and processes, ensuring business stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and actionable data, and supporting process improvement.

Responsibilities:

Create and maintain a comprehensive standard reporting suite:

  • Manage the BI team in the development of monthly, weekly and daily reporting
  • Ensure staff are on track and focused on goals
  • Manage the BI work load
  • Work with management team to set priorities and reasonable deadlines
  • Develop ongoing dashboard reporting
  • Extract and report on data for Medical, Network Department and Executive Team
  • Extract and report data for Contract Changes
  • Provide monthly trending of Revenue, Member Months and Medical Costs
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures
  • Maintain, train, orient, mentor and evaluate staff

Data and reporting governance:

  • Review and coordinate reporting projects
  • Manage the peer review process to ensure all reports are reviewed before distribution
  • Communicate results and recommendations to management, including prompt communication of any identified operational issues with the potential to negatively affect the company

Education / Experience / Other Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent obtained at a four-year college or university

Years of Experience:

  • A minimum of four (4) years working in a managed care environment
  • A minimum of five (5) years in healthcare IT management or related field
  • A minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience A minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial contracting desired

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Data Mining within a healthcare environment
  • IBNR understanding
  • Business and finance principles and practices
  • Utilization Methods
  • Normalizing Data
  • Software systems in a healthcare insurance environment
  • Principles of governmental financial administration and reporting
